Ukraine qualify for Euro 2012 as co-hosts with Poland. This is their first appearance in UEFA European Football Championship. Ukraine seeded in Group D, were drawn with Sweden, France and England. This group, is one of the hardest group in Euro 2012. Ukraine National Football Team has a nickname Zhovto-Blakytni (the Yellow-Blues) and have home ground at Olimpiysky Stadium, Kiev.

Ukraine's preparations for the tournament were disrupted with the resignation of coach Myron Markevych. He left the national team because of "moral reason" after his also managed club, Metalist Kharkiv often treated unfairly by Ukrainian Football Federation (FFU). Luckily, the legendary figure of Oleg Blokhin took the Ukraine as coach in April 2011. Oleg Blokhin born in November 5, 1952 (age 59) at Kiev, Ukrainian SSR, Soviet Union. He started his carrier as a striker for Dynamo Kyiv and the Soviet national team. Blokhin was named European Footballer of the Year, winning the Ballon d'Or, becoming the second Soviet and the first Ukrainian player to achieve such a feat. In 1990 he turned to coaching, becoming the manager of Olympiacos (win 3 cups), AEK Athens, PAOK, Ionikos, FC Moscow, and National Team of Ukraine in 2003 (bring Ukraine reached the quarter-finals of World Cup 2006, lost to Italy which eventually become champion).

Andriy Mykolayovych Shevchenko born in Dvirkivschyna, Soviet Union, September 29, 1976 (age 35). His position as a striker and become the second top scorer in AC Milan with 175 goals. He is part of UEFA Champion League-winning with AC Milan, domestic cup-winning with Chelsea and Dynamo Kyiv. He was named European Best Player in 2004 and one of 125 the best football player that still live in the world. In national football team, Shevchenko approaching 102 caps and 46 goals. The captaincy has been passed between Andriy Shevchenko and Anatoliy Tymoshchuk during the preparations for the tournament. If he can become a starter, he is likely to be handed the armband. Four more goals will bring Shevchenko to the 50th goals for his country.

Oleksandr Oleksandrovych Aliyev born in Khabarovsk, Soviet Union, at February 3, 1985 (age 27). He is Ukraine's National Football Team star player and Shevchenko's team-mate at Dynamo Kyiv as a Attacking Midfielder. Aliyev known for his spectacular free-kick goals. Aliyev has 23 caps and 6 goals for his country. With his ability in set plays and dead ball, Ukraine will become a serious threat to other teams.
Yevgen Konoplyanka born in Aruba, at April 12, 1989 (age 22). Konoplyanka has wonderfully poised in possession, he dribbles at defenders with speed and accuracy. His weakness is still not consistent. But with the young age, skill and confidence he is expected to make Ukraine play more better.
