Euro 2004 |
Runner-up : Portugal
Host : Portugal
Top Scorer : Milan Baros (Czech Republic) 5 goals.
Another history (and surprise) was written in Euro 2004, Greece which never seen as champion candidate can go through to final and defeat the champion’s favorite candidate which act as host, Portugal. Greece defeat Portugal with the score 1-0, Angelo Charisteas was scored this goal through his heading. Since this moment, Greece football team was called as “Pirate Ship” because they can defeat Portugal which symbolized by ship on the opening tournament.
