Kharkiv or Kharkov in Russian is the second-largest city in Ukraine was founded in 1654. Kharkiv became the first city in Ukraine where the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic was proclaimed in December 1917 and Soviet government was formed. Like the other cities in Ukraine, Kharkiv also have dark history especially during the period of history is most remembered Soviet. The detention of hundreds of intellectuals and artists who are considered anti-communist in 1934, it was the cleanup effort continued until 1938. About 3,800 Polish prisoners in the camp Starobelsk executed in Kharkiv.
Kharkiv is well known from it's tank industries, military vehicle and all related metal production. Its industry specializes primarily in machinery. There are hundreds of industrial companies in the city. Among them are world renown giants like the Morozov Design Bureau and the Malyshev Tank Factory, leaders in tank production since the 1930s. For years, tank was became Kharkiv's biggest export commodities. Before German took over this city in 1941, Soviet's army has displace their tank industries to the mountain area for build this military vehicle and later been in use by Nazi German.

Karina Smirnoff or Karina Smirnova born in January 2, 1978 at Kharkiv, Ukrainian SSR, Soviet Union is a Ukrainian professional ballroom dancer. She began taking ballet lessons when five years old, followed by gymnastics, aerobics, figure skating, ballroom dancing and piano. She chose to pursue ballroom dancing. In 1992, Smirnoff emigrated to the United States. She is best known for her appearances on 10 seasons Dancing with the Stars and nude pictorial in the May 2011 American issue of Playboy magazine. She has won numerous titles in the UK Open, U.S. Open champion three times, and twice the Asian Open, and includes a five-time champion Dutch Open. He also won the U.S. National Champion five times.
