The rising of new great team in East Europe made 48 countries participated in Euro 1996. New format is used, 16 team in final stage and divided in four groups.

The first and second rank for each group will get trough to next stage. In final, Germany which was the most favorite team meet the Czech Republic which became the underdog team.

Germany won the Euro by defeat Czech Republic with 2-1 score. Germany won through Oliver Bierhoff’s goal in extra time. This is the first time golden goal system implemented in game.
